SCIENCE FAIR for Windows, Version 4.0
Purpose: SCIENCE FAIR presents ten real-world applications
of physics and math - great ideas for science fairs! For
kids aged 9 to 16.
Levers teaches you about the three different lever types and
forces required to balance them. Study basic oscillations
with Pendulum -- see effects of changing lengths, weight,
and friction. Plots of motion are given. Water Wheel
demonstrates the exciting world of chaotic dynamics.
Examine wheel motion as different water flow rates are used.
Moon Lander gives practice in understanding concepts of speed
and acceleration as you try to land on the moon. Weather
Watch provides tools that allow you to identify and predict
trends in the weather.
Circuits allows you to build electric circuits from batteries,
switches, and light bulbs. See effects of different circuit
types, burned out bulbs, etc. Robotics allows you to study
the world of robots using a 2-dimensional, two-link robotic
arm. Trajectories is a simulation of a flying object. The
program introduces estimation and answer refinement skills.
Rocketry is a demonstration of model rocket launches - vary
thrust, burn time, and rocket mass. Probability introduces
an exciting field of mathematics with problems in coin
flipping, dice rolling, and dropping toothpicks!
Requirements:
Windows 3.1/95
Visual Basic 4.0, 16 Bit Run-Time Files (most likely already
on your machine)
Installation:
To install, run the SETUP.EXE program. If SETUP does not
operate properly, you need to install the Visual Basic 4.0
16 Bit Run-Time files. Follow these instructions:
1. Go to our web page at URL
http://www.jetcity.com/~kidware/te07000.htm
2. Click on the ZDNet link there.
3. You will be taken to a page with:
Visual Basic 4.0 16 bit Runtime Drivers v4.0
4. Download this file. VBR416.ZIP is written to your machine.
5. Unzip file. VBR416.EXE is expanded.
6. Run VBR416.EXE - new files will be written to your machine.
After this, try the SETUP program again. If you need any help,
just contact us - we can send you a disk with VBR416.EXE.
Uninstall: To uninstall the SCIENCE FAIR programs, simply
delete the directory (folder) they are installed in.
Status: Shareware, freely distributable.
